Dr. Kumar, Dr. Gao and Dr. Zin have successfully filed the U.S. Provisional Application 63/519,706 for the invention titled, “PROXIMITY DOPING FOR SILICON SOLAR CELL STRUCTURES”. The IP was developed as part of DOE SETO SIPS Funding (Award#: DEEE0009367) that Dr. Zin received in 2021.

Our NCF team (Dr. Kumar, Dr. Gao and Dr. Zin) presented the results of characterization of DI-O3 oxide for poly-Si solar cells, as part of DOE SETO grant DEEE0009367 in 50th IEEE PVSC conference at San Juan, Puerto Rico from June 12 – 16, 2023. Jinam Modasiya, a senior of ECE undergraduate program has joined our team to work on projects: fabrication, characterization and materials development of semiconductor and photovoltaic devices. Research works Jinam undertakes within NCF will be part of his senior year projects. Welcome aboard Jinam!

Up to 25 ECE undergraduate students undertaken the lab demonstration sections as part of Microelectronic Processing course in the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023. Students were split into 4 groups and they learned the fundamentals of micro/nanolithography patterning process, deposition of dielectric materials, measurements and characterizations, along with hands-on experiments.
